Q: What power sources can I use?
A: A micro-USB (4.5–5.5V) port is included in the kit. You'll need a USB cable, but any micro-USB cable you have available (e.g.: phone charger) will work. You can also supply power via batteries or any other 4.5-5.5V power source which can be connected to the “BAT” terminals available on the circuit board. Our instruction manual tells you how to do this, but please Contact us if you need any further guidance.

Q: Do I need previous electronics experience?
A: No. Beginners can complete this kit following our illustrated instruction manual. It uses only through-hole components which are easy to solder—the main challenge with this kit is proper alignment and soldering of all the PCBs together at the end of the assembly process, but our manual covers this process step-by-step with photos included.

Q: Is this kit easy to store so I can reuse it every Christmas?
A: Yes! Once built, your LED Christmas tree can be used year after year as a delightful Christmas decoration. Simply unplug it and store it wrapped in some bubble-wrap, craft paper or any other protective packaging you have available.

Q: Is the Christmas Tree safe to be left on for prolonged periods of time?
A: Yes! The Christmas Tree uses very low power and only draws 0.2 amps. It does not produce heat during use and is safe to leave on for prolonged periods. However, as with all electrical equipment, we still recommend that you power the tree off when unattended (e.g.: if leaving the house or going to bed). If using with a USB cable/plug, please refer to that items manufacturers manual for safety considerations.

Q: Do you have an acrylic display case available for use with this product?
A: Yes! While it's not listed on the product page, we do supply a clear acrylic case for this item—the case can enhance the appearance of the tree while also protecting the electronic components from damage. If you're interested in purchasing the case also, just Contact Us to request it.

Christmas Tree

A simple, straightforward project (almost) that turns out to be a delightful display for the holidays.
The "almost" is for the proper way to insert the 37 LEDs. The instructions rightly say to put the long leg through the hole marked with a + sign. On my kit however, 36 of the markings were diode symbols instead of the + sign. If this is the case with your project, put the long leg in the hole at the back of the arrow. The symbol points to the negative side. Alternatively, the long leg goes through the hole that's square, the negative through the round hold.
I am quite happy with my result!
