Electronics Kit Subscription Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to subscriptions purchased through The Science Hut and should be read together with our general store Terms & Conditions, Shipping Policy and Refund Policy.

Should you wish to make any changes to your subscription, you may do so on the Subscription Management Page using the button below. Alternatively, simply contact us to let us know of any changes that you require, and we can make them on your behalf.

Manage Your Subscription

1. About the Subscription

The Electronics Kit Subscription is a recurring subscription service through which customers receive a new electronics project kit at the selected delivery frequency.

Each subscription is intended to form part of a progressive series of electronics projects, with projects generally becoming more challenging as the customer progresses through the series. Two options are available—one with electronics tools included, and another option with no tools included. This ensures that you only receive what you need.

Subscription options currently include:

• Monthly – one project approximately every month.
• Every 2 Months – one project approximately every two months.

The subscription will automatically renew at the selected frequency until it is cancelled, paused or otherwise ends in accordance with these terms.

2. What Is Included

Each subscription delivery includes the electronics project kit associated with the customer's current stage in the series.

If you have selected the subscription that includes electronics tools, the additional tools and/or materials required will be supplied as part of the subscription as the customer progresses through the sequence.

The purpose of the subscription is to progressively build both the customer's collection of electronics projects and their available tools and materials.

3. Progression Through the Series

The subscription is designed to follow a progressive sequence of projects.

You start the subscription on the first project and each subsequent month, you will be supplied the next kit in the series as detailed on the subscription project page.

The sequence of projects may occasionally be changed where necessary due to product availability, supplier issues, discontinued products, shipping restrictions or other operational circumstances.

Where a planned project cannot be supplied, The Science Hut may substitute an alternative project of a similar nature or make another reasonable adjustment to the sequence. The customer will be notified in advance of any such changes, and may choose to accept the alternative, skip the project that month, or cancel their subscription.

4. Want to Skip Kits You Already Own?

Customers who have previously purchased any kit included in the subscription series do not need to receive that kit again.

Customers may contact us to let us know which kits they do not wish to receive, and we will ensure they are skipped (and not charged for) in your subscription plan.

Skipping a kit does not skip the month. The customer will automatically progress to the next applicable project in the series that month. If you wish to skip a kit and also skip a month, please pause your subscription in the Subscription Management Page, or contact us to let us know.

5. Subscription Price

The subscription price displayed at checkout is the price that applies to the selected subscription plan.

The subscription will renew at the applicable price and delivery frequency shown when the subscription is purchased, subject to any changes notified to the customer in accordance with applicable law.

If any changes in the subscription price become necessary during your subscription (e.g.: due to inflation or increased costs), we will notify customers in advance. In such cases, customers can cancel their subscription, if they prefer not to pay the new price.

The subscription represents a substantial saving compared with purchasing the complete series, including applicable tools and materials, individually. The advertised saving is based on the prices applicable when the comparison is made and is not a guarantee of the price of individual products in the future.

Since substantial discounts are already built into the subscription plan, no discount codes can be used to reduce the cost of the subscription further.

6. Automatic Renewal and Payment

By purchasing a subscription, the customer authorises recurring payments at the selected subscription frequency.

The subscription includes 12 projects billed monthly or once every two months, depending on the option you choose when you purchase your subscription. You will be billed for all 12 projects at the set frequency unless you cancel or pause your subscription.

The date you purchase your subscription is the first billing date. Payment for the first month will be taken from your nominated payment method on that date. Your subscription renewal date will be on or around the same date each month (allowing for bank / payment provider processing times, which may vary between payment providers and over weekends or public holidays).

The payment method used for the subscription will be charged automatically for each scheduled subscription order.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their payment method remains valid and able to accept recurring payments.

We provide customers with advance notification of upcoming recurring subscription charges.

If a payment cannot be processed, the subscription may be subject to up to 3 payment retries (one attempt every 2 days) and may subsequently be paused, skipped or cancelled depending on the outcome of those retries and the settings applicable to the subscription.

7. Cancelling Your Subscription

Customers may cancel their subscription at any time.

Customers can cancel through their customer account using the Subscription Management Page, or contact us to request cancellation.

Cancellation stops future subscription orders and charges. Any order that has already been billed and/or dispatched before cancellation will still be charged and delivered. Therefore, customers should ensure to cancel their subscription before the next billing date to avoid being charged for the next project in the subscription.

8. Skipping or Pausing a Subscription

The following actions are also possible through the Subscription Management Page, or you may simply contact us to request these changes:

• Skip an upcoming delivery.
• Pause your subscription.

Skipping or pausing a subscription does not cancel the subscription. The subscription may subsequently resume according to the customer's instructions.

9. Delivery

Subscription orders are shipped to the delivery address associated with the subscription.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their shipping address is accurate and up to date.

Customers can manage their shipping address through their customer account where this functionality is available, or may contact us for assistance.

Your kits will ship for free each month.

Delivery times may vary depending on destination, shipping method and circumstances outside our control. Refer to our Shipping Policy for further information.

10. Changes to Shipping Address or Payment Details

Customers should update their payment details and shipping address before the next scheduled subscription order where a change is required.

Customers can manage these details through the Subscription Management Page.

11. Product Availability and Substitutions

While we aim to supply the project scheduled for each stage of the series, circumstances outside our control may occasionally affect product availability.

This may include supplier shortages, discontinued components, shipping restrictions, customs restrictions or other circumstances affecting our ability to obtain or deliver a particular kit.

Where this occurs, we may:

• Delay the affected delivery.
• Substitute a suitable alternative project.
• Change the order in which projects are supplied.
  

Where any of these actions become necessary, customers will be informed in advance, and will have the option of accepting the change, skipping, pausing or cancelling their subscription, if desired. We will aim to ensure that any replacement project is appropriate for the customer's stage in the series.

12. Changes to the Subscription Programme

The Science Hut may make reasonable changes to the projects, tools, components, materials or order of the series where necessary.

Changes may be required because of product availability, supplier changes, component discontinuation or improvements to the subscription programme.

We will not use such changes to materially reduce the overall nature or purpose of the subscription programme. Any changes will also be of approximately equal or better value for the customer.

13. Returns, Refunds and Consumer Rights

Subscription products are subject to our normal Refund and Returns Policy.

Nothing in these terms is intended to limit or exclude any statutory rights that customers may have under applicable consumer protection law.

Where a customer has a statutory right to cancel, return or obtain a refund, that right will continue to apply regardless of these terms.

14. Ending a Subscription

A subscription may end if:

• The customer cancels it.
• Repeated payment attempts fail.
• The customer requests that it be cancelled.
• The Science Hut is unable to continue providing the subscription.
• Another circumstance occurs that requires the subscription to be terminated.

If The Science Hut needs to discontinue the subscription programme, customers will not be charged for future deliveries after the subscription has ended.

15. Agreement to These Terms

By purchasing an Electronics Kit Subscription, the customer confirms that they understand that:

• The subscription is a recurring purchase.
• Payment will be taken automatically at the selected frequency.
• The subscription will continue until cancelled, paused or otherwise ended.
• Projects form part of a progressive series.
• Kits already owned may be skipped subject to the subscription arrangements.
• The subscription can be cancelled in accordance with these terms.
