Customer Experience Survey, 2026

What Our Customers Told Us: Survey Results

Earlier this year we asked customers to complete a short survey about their experience with our electronics kits. Over 100 customers responded, sharing feedback about product quality, shipping, packaging, and how they use the kits.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to respond. The insights help us improve our kits and the experience around them. Here are some of the key things we learned.

---

Overall Satisfaction Is Very High

The most encouraging result from the survey was the overall satisfaction level. Nearly 90% of respondents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their purchase. Even better, almost the same percentage said they would be likely to buy from us again.

For a small independent store, this is hugely motivating. It tells us we’re delivering something people genuinely enjoy.

Many Customers Are First-Time Buyers

A majority of respondents said they had only placed one order so far. However, a significant portion of customers have already purchased multiple kits. This suggests something we’ve long suspected: once people build their first kit successfully, they often come back for another project. One of our goals going forward is to make it easier to discover what to build next.

Electronics Kits Are Popular Gifts

One of the most interesting findings was how many customers buy our kits as gifts. About one third of survey respondents purchased a kit for someone else. These were often gifts for:

  • teenagers interested in STEM
  • partners who enjoy building things
  • friends who like gadgets or electronics
  • family members looking for a hands-on project

This reinforces something we hear frequently from customers: a kit isn’t just a product — it’s an experience. Many people enjoy building the project together with the recipient.

Products Generally Meet or Exceed Expectations

Most customers reported that their kits met or exceeded expectations. The feedback we received highlighted a few things people consistently appreciate:

  • the hands-on learning experience
  • the satisfaction of building something yourself
  • the finished project actually working

These are exactly the reasons we started offering DIY electronics kits in the first place.

Shipping Expectations Are Important

Most customers said shipping times were as expected, although a smaller group felt delivery was slightly slower than they anticipated. Interestingly, this didn’t seem to strongly affect overall satisfaction. Customers were generally still happy with their purchase once they received and built the kit.

That said, we plan to improve delivery estimates and shipping communication so expectations are clearer before ordering.

Packaging Works — But We Can Improve the Presentation

Most respondents rated our packaging as good or acceptable, but some feedback suggested that we could improve the presentation slightly, especially for gift purchases.

Because we keep packaging minimal to reduce shipping costs (and keep kits affordable), we don’t use large retail-style boxes. However, based on the feedback we’re exploring ways to improve the experience without increasing shipping costs. For example:

  • clearer project identification
  • printed project cards
  • quick-start instructions
  • QR codes linking to guides and videos

Small touches can make the kits feel even more polished.

Clear Instructions Matter

Several customers mentioned how important clear instructions are, particularly for beginners. This is something we’re continuing to invest in. Our goal is to make every kit approachable for anyone willing to learn, even if they have limited experience with electronics.

Future improvements may include:

  • Manuals included in kits with QR links for more detailed manuals
  • additional photos
  • advanced troubleshooting tips
  • more build videos on our YouTube channel

The easier the first project is, the more likely someone is to try another one.

Customers Want More Kits

One piece of feedback we were especially excited to see: several customers said they wished we had even more kits to choose from. That’s great motivation for us!

We’re always exploring new project ideas, and the survey confirmed that many customers enjoy building multiple kits over time. We plan to continually upgrade our product offerings and will keep subscribed customers notified of exciting additions to our catalogue.

Customer Service

While the survey didn't ask specifically about customer service interactions, there were many comments commending us for same which was delightful to see. We put a lot of effort into customer service, so we're delighted that people are taking notice.

Thank You For Your Participation!

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to complete the survey and share their thoughts. Your feedback helps shape what we build next and how we improve the experience for future customers.

Of course, we recognise that a survey is only a snapshot of the experiences of those who chose to reply, and often customers who were not happy with their experience often choose not to participate. For that reason, we’re paying particular attention to the feedback where customers suggested areas for improvement, as those insights are especially valuable in helping us make the experience even better.

Don't forgot you received a discount code for your participation... if you can't remember it, just Contact Us and we can send it to you again.

If you’d like to help shape future kits or improvements, we’ll run surveys like this from time to time. Your input truly makes a difference. And if you’ve already built one of our kits — we hope you’re enjoying it, and maybe even planning your next project.
