A: The kit uses special multi-color LEDs. Slight fluctuations in power are sent from the MCU to each LED and the voltage/current each LED receives determines the colour of the light it emits.

This is a fairly easy kit to assemble, some care and precision are required to get everything looking nice. The instructions are excellent and were easy to follow to put this kit together. The display is great - it's amazing how this works - LEDs have just two leads but display multiple colors, making for a really colorful and vibrant display.

Glad you found the instruction manual good; our technical team will be pleased to hear your feedback about it. These LEDs really are a bit of a marvel; lot of people just expect to see white light so they are amazed when they see them flash in many colours. The LEDs are based on a phosphor coating that changes colour based on outputs from the microcontroller that forms part of the circuit—the colour can be varied based on changes in pulse width modulation (PWM), current and voltage.
My husband is an electronics engineer and our kids love to watch him work in his workshop. I got them each one of these electronics kits so they can work alongside him... they are using some of his tools to make the kits and really enjoying it! Thanks
